Mediacorp Canada has named this year’s Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers, recognizing organizations across the region’s four provinces that offer exceptional workplaces.

The annual competition, now in its 17th year, evaluates employers on eight criteria: workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

Richard Yerema, executive editor at Mediacorp, pointed to the long-term thinking behind this year’s winners.

“What stands out about this year’s winners is their long-term mindset. They understand that attracting talent is only the beginning — the real challenge is helping people put down roots, grow their careers, and see a future for themselves in Atlantic Canada.”

What winners are doing

This year’s winning employers support workers through health, financial and family benefits, generous leave policies, retirement planning, and training programs. Many also run employee resource groups, social committees, volunteer programs, and community partnerships.

Cypress Weston, assistant editor at Mediacorp, described the approach shared by winning organizations.

“They want employees to succeed professionally, but they also want them to thrive personally — to build families, connect with their communities, and see a future for themselves in Atlantic Canada. That’s what makes these organizations stand out.”

Mediacorp notes that winning employers view retention as going beyond compensation. They focus on career development, family supports, flexible work, and inclusive cultures.

About the competition

The competition is open to any private or public sector employer with its head office or principal place of business in the Atlantic provinces. Mediacorp editors review submissions against the same eight criteria used since the competition launched.

The full list was released in a special magazine distributed through The Globe and Mail and on Eluta.ca. Detailed reasons for selection for each winner are available on the competition’s website.

Mediacorp Canada Inc., founded in 1992 and based in Toronto, has managed the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project since 1999. The project includes 19 regional and special-interest competitions. Mediacorp also operates Eluta.ca, a Canadian job search engine. Last year, 2.4 million unique visitors used its online platforms to search job opportunities and research employers.
