Payfare Inc., a company specializing in earned wage access (EWA) and digital banking solutions, has announced the creation of a Strategic Advisory Board to assist with its global expansion. The Toronto-based firm aims to leverage the board’s expertise to navigate the complexities of extending its platform to new markets.

Alex Ceballos, a former vice-president of worldwide corporate development at Amazon, is the first appointee to the new board. With 16 years of experience at Amazon, Ceballos was instrumental in strategic investments and acquisitions across multiple regions, including the U.S., Europe, India, and the Middle East. His notable achievements include orchestrating Amazon’s acquisition of Kiva Systems, which significantly enhanced Amazon’s logistics operations.

At Amazon, Ceballos also spearheaded investments in companies like Zoox, Rivian, and Aurora Technologies, and launched the $1 billion Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund to boost industrial automation and robotics. Most recently, he was the Chief Corporate Development Officer at NuBank and currently serves as President of Wyze Labs.

“Alex Ceballos’ extensive experience in global strategic development and his successful track record in leading transformational initiatives will be invaluable as we embark on our journey of international expansion,” said Marco Margiotta, CEO and Founding Partner of Payfare.

In addition to forming the advisory board, Payfare is expanding its business development, operations, and engineering teams to support its growth and new client programs.

Payfare partners with e-commerce marketplaces, payroll platforms, and employers to provide financial security and inclusion for workers through its award-winning digital banking platform.
